Success is simply defined as the accomplishment of one’s
goals. People usually wish the attainment of wealth, position, honors or the like
but there are much more deep goals than those related to material goods. However,
someone usually tries to reach his goals as fast as he can, without thinking
that the more dedication you give, the better the result can be. People stress
and are in constant seek of success but it is like playing a very hard video
game: the more you look for way outs and shortcuts to the target, the hardest
the game will be. You just have to let it flow and give your best, do what you
like and share it with others, so they can know they don’t need to be in a
constant struggle in order to outlast.
Here is the Viktor Frankl’s theory of success:
"Don't aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the
more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued;
it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one's
personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of
one's surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the
same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I
want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to
carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in
the long run - in the long run, I say! - success will follow you precisely
because you had forgotten to think of it."
I agree with
this theory – unlike many others- because I’ve seen many people that “kill themselves”
so that they can accomplish something, and stress, languishment and mental-exhaustion
– primarily caused by this condition - make it impossible. On the other side,
many others that have been very successful in their goals have been so not
because they’re thinking they HAVE and NEED to be the best, but because they
WANT to give the best of them, because they’ve made great efforts and know they
have something to give.
The thing is: we all have something to give you just need to seek for it and contribute with whatever you can feed on. Success is made up by the combined efforts of the beings.

Talking about
happiness is roughly speaking the same, but I think it’s not that attached to
the theory because you can determine the way you respond to situations, and that
reactions make your way more gentle, which eventually will lead you to your
happiness. But, of course you must forget at least a little about yourself and think
what you can do to improve your surroundings, knowing that this – the things
around you – are the only you have, as well as your mind and inner-thoughts.
So, after all
this bunch of esthetic words the summary is:
Start doing
something for your community, give your best and forget about selflessness; eventually
you will witness the benefits of it.
